CERLING: Statement
from the Artist The Sundial Series While exploring the grounds of the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, I came across an unusual sundial which looked like an ivory litho stone with incised blue lines. I took notes, thinking that I would find out more about it when I got back to Houston. At the public library here I found a long shelf of books which looked promising. To my surprise and delight I found myself taken from make-your-own-sundial manuals straight into astrophysics and time travel.
